What is my opinion about... ?

The Chilean tradition called ‘mechoneo’.-
I endorse to the idea of have a tradition at the begining of a university cycle, but not the way they do that. I think that a better way to do that it's not should be focus on the humiliation of the new students but rather on them enjoyment. When I was in my second year in the university, there was a "color run" in a mechoneo, see? that's what I'm talking about, we've to do fun activities of that kind, because is like a last activity of the scholar cycle.

Legalizing abortion in some cases.-
I don't know why this still being a theme, I think it's just a matter of logic. Because a human being have to be able to decide on his own body, not matter about the "type" of human. And also some people shouldn't be able to be parents, in addition to the demographic growth. There are a lot of problematics that aiming to "stop make babies".

Recycling.-
I think, the way that is the world now, recycling is not more a decision, is an obligation nowadays. We, as a soceity, have to admit the enviromental problem and solve it, of course. There is a lot of studies and test that aiming to "dude, the world is about to end", and out there are still people who don't believe that. That's why I think the peolple who know the truth (or just know what the studies means) have the obligation of save the planet, and not just recycling (I'm talking about global warming).

And last but not least, Legalizing marijuana and other drugs.-
Ok, first of all, I admit that I consume marijuana recreationally, so I think you already know my position about this, I disagree. I'm joking, I'm totally agree about legalizing marijuana. And that's because I have read from various sources about the marijuana and his prohibition, and the reason of many of his "myths". As "the marijuana kill your neurons", fake, because the study where that theory came out was with monkeys testing, and the procedure was, in a nutshell, suffocating the monkeys with marijuana smoke, so them neurons died because lack of oxygen. And a lot of stuff like that, like the prohibition was for keep someone job, etc. Well that's my opinion about marijuana, but for the other drugs, I think it could be more efficient teach about drugs to people, so they know more about them and their harm, than banning them.

What would I have studied?

Well, actually my second option of major was Chemistry, my first option was Biochemistry and I could only choose two options of majors because some bureaucratic problem, but if I could have been choose a third one it maybe have been Physics or something related to. So I would have studied Biochemistry if I weren't studying my major.

The reason that I wanted to study Biochemistry is kind of dumb and childish, is basically because I was good at chemistry and biology at school and I was like: "Yeah, one plus one is equal to two, why not?". And the same reason for the third option, I was following my instinct and the logic of " if I'm good at that, probably I should keep doing that".

I don't regret my fate, because I realized that in the biology subjects it is normal to memorize the subject matter. And I always was terrible at memorizing things, since the multiplication tables to the philosophical quotes of Platón and Aristóteles. But I'm really good inventing things like rhymes or phrases to remember things.

It's kind of funny the opinion that I have nowadays, because looking in hindsight I really had a change of mind. Lately I have been very interested in the major of Food Engineering, because all the diverse applications they have. And always (or mostly) they have expositions where there's free food for tasting.

Postgraduate studies

I entered university because I had to do something with my life, I'm kidding, in fact I entered because I had a great passion for keep learning, and I choose chemistry because it was the subject where I was better, so my main motive is learn the most of the things (that I like, of course). So, if I ever take a postgraduate course, the reason will be to keep learning, probably.

Theoretical chemistry subjects
There are three subjects that I like the most: analytical chemistry, theoretical chemistry and environmental chemistry, in that order. Analytical chemistry, because the same reason of the first paragraph: "because it was the subject where I was better" and some people tell me that the payment is very great 😉. Theoretical chemistry, because I found very interesting the chemical foundations like the theory of the molecular orbital, molecular structures, etc. And last but not least, environmental chemistry, because nowadays the environmental contamination is dangerous and we need to solve these problems.

I prefer to study in a foreign country because many reasons, like better equipment, new people to meet ,etc. On second thought, I don't really care, the first to happen, Chile or abroad. I would like to study traditionally (?). Until now, I'm doing well this stuff of being a student like this so a different study probably makes things harder.

Just a simple life

The expectations of my future job is really boring, but is because it's focus on have a stable lifestyle. I only want to have enough money to supplies my needs and a little extra to spend on stuff that I like. So I don't have in mind a job by the moment, as long as I can be stable with it, but I can imagine some areas that I probably could work on it, like in a laboratory helping in an important project or my owns, or doing some field tests, work in the mining industry. I don't know, whatever, but related to my major. I prefer to work indoors, because almost my whole major's stuff is in indoors, and also because I get easily disturb by loud noises.

I would like to travel in my job, who doesn't? is like paid holidays, if you enjoy your job. I don't have an ambition about the salary, like I said before just what is necessary. As you can guess, my major is related with laboratories and industries, do you know already? yes, I'm studying Chemistry, and I'm doing on purpose.

One last thing to add, the most of the people, the first thing they say when i tell em my major is: "oh, so you're going to be a teacher?". If you are one of these people, I forgive you, don't worry, I don't know your professional fields either. But I don't really want to be a teacher because I'm very bad at teach.

Beats to study/chill/relax...

I already wrote about my favourite band on this blog before, so this time I'm going to write about a "type" of music that I listen to a lot lately. Have you ever seen while you're on YouTube a type of videos (or livestreams mostly) titled "music/beats/whatever to study/chill/relax/whatever", well I did and I still doing it. At the first time it was curiosity (I started to open the livestreams and let the songs plays), but with the time I started to listen it more often, until I started to known the artists who make this songs.

This songs are defined as LoFi, who is an abbreviation of low fidelity, who in other words is songs with low quality. But the songs doesn't sound bad, is like low quality on purpose to give an atmosphere of nostalgia. The artists of this "genre" (I don't even know if this could be considered as a genre) aren't so popular and have names really weirds "Elijah who", "The Deli" and "Shiloh" are some examples.

I hear this songs, as the title of the videos and livestreams says, while I'm studying and when I'm chillin in my room doing nothing because the songs make me feel calm, and lately I liked a lot this stuff because compensates the stress of the University labors.

The Dancing Clown

I have to admit that when I was a kid I suffered the horror movies, specially the "Final Destination" franchise, I was a very fearful child, I mean, I was afraid to the dark. Until now, i did overcome the most of my fears and one of them is the horror movies in general and it's started with "It" of the 2017, and it was the best way to start over again with horror movies.

Like I said before this is an horror movie which takes place in a little town called Derry on the state of Maine, USA (fiction of course). The story occurs on the 80's decade (between 1988 and 1989 more specifically) and it's about a unknown being who it's well called "it", and it's terrorizing the kids of the town cause some reason. But a group of kids confront it, one of those kids is Bill Denbrough, portrayed by Jaeden Martell, who has a very strong reason to confront it cause he lost his beloved little brother. "It" takes the form of the thing you are more afraid of, and usually takes the form of a clown known as Pennywise, portrayed by Bill Skarsgård.

I like this movie because I feel like it closed a phase of me being scared of horror movies, because after of saw the movie I started to watch a lot of horror films.

One of my Most Memorable Holidays

About some years ago, I don't remember when exactly but I think it was on the 2017, with a group of friends (within 11 or 12) we plan a travel to the beach. This we did it after a hard semester, so it was one of the best vacations I have ever had.

I hope this kind of stuff happen again.
To make things better, we got together a weekend before the trip to organize everything we had to take and we were going to need it on the beach. As sometimes happen, this meeting ended in a drunkenness of those, although in spite of everything, we managed to have a civilized meeting for 10 minutes and that was just and necessary.

We spend 3 days in the grandfather's house of a friend in which things happened that probably shouldn't be counted, but the important thing is that they were a nice vacation.
I will never forget the second day, because we walk until the beach in the afternoon and then we take this pic.

The Green Country

Hi, it's been a while since the last post, but let me begin with the country I'd like to visit. So, don't you think that the Netherlands is nice? I think it is very nice. In a possible future I'd like to visit the Netherlands and see the beautiful natural landscapes that it has, and the stylish cities.

I don't really know much about the Netherlands, but the little thing I know about the Netherlands is that in its cities there are many parks and much green in general. I'd really like to rest there, and I mean really rest, and take some walks around the parks of the cities or the landscapes, and stay chill during my visit. I'd like to live there and maybe get some easy jobs over there, but not study or do some important work that needs my entire concentration, because I'd like to take in the country easily.

I have heard some rumours that its capital, Amsterdam, is a great place to go to party, so maybe when I visit that country, more specific the capital, I will not be alone.

My Experience as a "Blogger"

I must acknowledge that was fun, being more specific, the posts about my likings was the funniest, because it was too easy to tell you something I am used to do in my daily life (like hear or play music, comment about my favorite series and favorite books, etc.) and sometimes I get into the theme too much.

I think that my writing skills have increased, but no only the writing in English but that also the writing in general, I mean, now is easier for me to write any work that I must do in the university, like reports or homework’s.

It was very interesting the “Blog session” when I must do something different that write, like include a picture, or a video, or a link, and things like that. So rather than an include something, i prefer have variety, have something to innovate. An example would be having four types of “blog session” (with different theme of course):
1) Only write.
2) Include a picture.
3) Include a link.
4) Include a video.
intercalating them, and make some variety.

Like I said at the start I really enjoy posting about my likings, so consequently I really like the “What’s your favorite…” blog session. So, I would to write about, I don’t know, favorite food, favorite hobby, favorite season of the year, etc.

Guns n' Roses

As you can see in the title, my favorite band of all time since I have memory is the nineties rock band: Guns and Roses. A very polemic band in their times, for trouble in the hotels where they stayed, and many other things.

I can't quite remember when I started to listen this band, but I remember when I knew this band. It was when I was a kid, in the shopping center. In one of these public tenders in the center of the shopping center, the competition it was of the videogame: Guitar Hero II and I don't remember if I won or if I lost, I only remember one specific song: Sweet Child O' Mine. Since I ear that song I couldn't take it out of my head for a long time, and even in that long period of time I couldn't remember the name of the song, until I hear it in the radio station Futuro 88.9, it was at that moment that I listen this band.

My music preferences started with the rock in general, because in the travel to San Antonio (where my grandparents live) my dad always put the Pink Floyd's disc, and Los Prisioneros. But I like this band for other reason too, something inexplicable. It's just a thing that I can't describe when I hear every song of this band.

Advanced and Multivariated Calculus

I always liked math. Since my childhood, i was (and i am) "good with the numbers", i found it more funnier than memorize important dates of history, or write short stories, or memorize the bones of the body. That is the reason of why i choose this subject as my favorite, and the discard, because unlike to the others (Statistics, Laboratory, and different Chemistry subjects) is the best... (for me).

The subject is "Advanced and Multivariated Calculus", and basically we calculate area, volume and points in space (usually in planes). These values are calculated using "the next step" of derivative and integrals: partial derivatives and double integrals. Also, the classic variable "x", is not alone, now is accompanied with other variables ("y" and "z", sometimes "t", or sometimes we change the variables to "u" and "v").
The main contents we have seen in the subject are:
1) Vectors and vector functions.
2) Partial derivatives.
3) Double integrals.
4) How to applicate these tools to calculate the volume or area of a surface.

Well, i'm not sure if these are the contents, because i don't remember the program. But this is the essential.

Like i said in the start, since my childhood i liked the math. I guess because the answer is just a one, or two, i mean, the answer is objective. They are many ways to do the operations but always are the same result.

The Japanese Website...

To tell the truth, I don't know many websites related to my career, just one and a lot of chemistry books in PDF. But that one is the best until now, because helps in the organic chemistry laboratory, specifically with the spectra. The link is: http://sdbs.db.aist.go.jp/sdbs/cgi-bin/direct_frame_top.cgi .

Well, this link isn't the home page. In general, the website is of a "National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology" (AIST) and is focus in all scientific relevant topics, like energy, environment, biotechnology, etc. This page originally is in Japanese, so I suppose that is from Japan. But the link that i provided is a spectral database for organic compounds, where you can seek by the name of the compound or another specific "thing" of the compound (molecular formula, molecular weight, atoms, etc.).

I visit this page weekly, to complete the report of the compound synthesized in the organic chemistry laboratory. And sometimes I visit the page because I'm bored and I seek typical compounds (TNT, urea, toluene, etc.).
I like this page because I found it interesting the spectra of the compounds and because helps me in the laboratory.

"Travesuras de la niña mala"

The title of my favourite book is "Travesuras de la niña mala" as you can see in the title of the post.

Well, the book start with a boy called Ricardo Somocurcio that he dreams live in Paris, but in a wonderful summer, according to the protagonist, he meet a pair of chilean girls, Lily and Lucy. The first, Lily, will be very important in his life, because is the girl and, subsequently, the woman who has the protagonist in love with her.
The first encounter between them is in Peru, when both are kids. He tried many times to have a relationship with her, but she refused always. The second encounter is in Paris, where he live poorly there and he offer a place to a revolutionaries recruits, and one of them is the girl, he call her "bad girl". The third encounter is in Paris again, but now she is the wife of an important political. The fourth encounter is in London, and she is the wife of a multimillionaire. The fifth encounter is in Tokyo, and she is working for Fukuda (fetish things). In the sixth encounter she seeked help in him, but finally she left him. And finally in the seventh encounter she want to spend the rest of his life with him. It in a very summarised form.

The main character is Ricardo Somocurcio and the "bad girl". The other characters are not frequently in the story, because they have protagonism in different chapters. The story is, primarily, in Europe, and sometimes in Perú. The autor of this novel is Mario Vargas Llosa.

A Beautiful Memory...

To be quite honest, I don't like the photography too much, just like a amateur, or not even that. So don't expect too much from this post.

V.Z.; C.A.; J.G.; F.B.; J.C.
Well, this picture it was taken by my friend on the right with the style of "selfie", his name is Jose Castillo. The people on the picture are my group of friends, the first ones that i made in the university, and there we are in a beach day. This picture it was taken in the last summer vacation, between January and February, i guess... i can't quite remember. And it was taken in the "El Quisco" beach.

I like this photo because makes me remember the nice week i spent with my friends in the beach, those long nights playing cards and board games, waking up late, eating too much junk food and playing in the slot machines, ...it was a nice week.

Breaking Bad

Well, this series is about a chemistry teacher with great achievements, but with a bad lifestyle. He has two jobs (besides to be a teacher), works with disrespectful students and he has two kids, the eldest son with a cerebral palsy and the youngest daughter in the womb of his wife. His life, for the moment, was boring, but everything changed when he was diagnosed with pulmonar cáncer, in that moment he decided to make money with another thing: Crystal meth.
At this point i guess you already know who i'm talking about...  yes, i'm talking about Walter White, also known as Heisenberg, in the series. For not to extend the explanation of the series, in short the series is about the fortunes and the misfortunes of Walter White and also his "assistant" Jesse Pinkman.

Walter & Jesse
I really like the series, not because Chemistry is the basis of the series, i like it because has drama, action, and a lot of strategy, whether of Walter White or his enemies. Also i wanted to see the spin-off series called "Better Call Saul", but for now i don't have time.

I'm a Console Gamer

Well, my favourite piece of technology is the console PlayStation®, all of them (except PS4 :'c). I know the PS system is worst than the PC gamer, Xbox, etc. but i really don't care about the potential of the console, or graphics, or whatever because i grew up in my chilhood with the PSone and that brings me the best childhood in my opinion, playing videogames with my sister like Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, etc.
My first approach to the console it was in my childhood, (i don't remember when exactly) but i remember the many hours i lost because that console. One unexpected day burglarizing my home and the thieves stole me the PSone. But in christmas Santa Claus gave me the PS2, it was the best console for me because the variety of the videogames, and the variety of the kind of the videogames, shooter game's like "BLACK", music games like "Guitar Hero", etc. Then time passed and the generation of the PS3 and the Xbox360 was the fury, so i sold my PS2 (the worst decision of my life) and i bought the PS3, my actually console.

When recently bought the PS3 i used it to play (obviously) in singleplayer and multiplayer, for an extended period of time. But for now i use the PS3 to see series, movies, videos from youtbe and occasionally play videogames.
Today, i use the PS3 when i have free time in my home, what is almost nothing. I like the PS3 because is an "entretaiment" in my life, and for the nostalgic memories.
If the console's PlayStation® never existed, i believed, would have been an Xbox gamer, because is like the most similar console with the PlayStation® console's (Netflix, Youtube, etc)

Why Chemistry...

When i was a child, i had all the typical job expectations for a child (police officer, firefighter, astronaut, etc.), but the most important job was to be a doctor, because this dream led me to the scientific area (i also wanted do it for free).

During my high school, i really liked the scientific subjects (Biology, Chemistry, Physics), but more Chemistry and Biology. And when i had to decided a university career i had 3 in mind: Medicine (from my childhood dream), Biochemistry (because i thought it was: [Chemistry + Biology]) and Chemistry. Finally i put my faith in Biochemistry...  but i entered Chemistry and in the first semester i realized it was the career i want.

In the first semester i realize that biology is more memory than application so it made me changed my mind, also i have made some good friends. In short, my first year in the univesity was "soft", like a 5th grade of high school (a little bit more difficult, of course).
I really want to work in the investigation area, more especific, in theorical concepts in general.

Who I am?

My name is Javier Ignacio Gómez Pérez, i live in Santiago de Chile and actually i study chemistry in the Universtity of Chile. This time i'm going to talk about me.

I was born in the "Clínica Santa María" in the country Chile, in April 20th, 1998. My father is a contractor, he has a technical drafts man title, he works occasionally in construction, my mom is a candy seller near a school, and my sister is studying psychology at the University Andres Bello.

The guitar i wish
About me, i start my studies in the Santiago La Florida School, but during my elementary studies my parents switched me of school, to the "Siglo XXI" School. I did my high schooling in the same school, and finally i'm studying in the University of Chile. My hobby is playing instruments, read, listen music (all of the music) and play video games.
